Hi, I'm
Jed Matangi
BEngTech Chemical Engineering (cum laude) , UJ
I'm an engineer. A maker. And someone who's genuinely curious about solving problems. I enjoy building things, especially alongside people who care about transforming complex ideas into practical and affordable solutions. My approach is hands-on, built on prototyping, experimentation, and iterative design. That's how I learn best. There's something satisfying about connecting ideas across disciplines to create outcomes that feel both functional and intentional. I'm excited to work with teams and individuals who share that curiosity; people who value execution and collaboration, and who want their work to lead to real, tangible impact.
THE PROBLEM TODAY
THE GAP
Today, the world doesn't lack new ideas. What's missing is a clear way to begin.
Across both developing and developed economies, people face constant pressure to innovate. There's been a significant push to modernise agriculture, manufacturing, products, and businesses. Yet for many, the hardest part isn't the idea itself. It's knowing where to start. Ideas often stall because the first steps feel unclear or risky. This hesitation usually comes from a disconnect between the vision in our heads and the real-world constraints we haven't yet faced. In an age of rapid technological change, that uncertainty can amplify confusion rather than create progress.
My focus is on that early, fragile stage where the idea needs to meet reality. Real progress, I've found, comes from translating concepts into workable prototypes. From improving what already exists. From actively identifying the smallest, most meaningful steps forward and simply taking them. Understanding global demand matters, of course. But in my experience, progress rarely comes from radical disruption alone. It comes from working through the fundamentals and making them slightly better, over and over again, until the accumulation of small wins becomes something worth noticing.
IN PROGRESS
BEHIND THE SCENES
Ongoing experiments. Builds with friends. Charity projects. Things I'm still figuring out.
Let's Build Something
Have a project in mind or want to collaborate? I'm always open to discussing new ideas and engineering challenges.
